At Seeking the Past Historical Consulting, I offer consulting services in the following areas:
1. Specialization in the architectural and biographical history of historic properties which includes documentation of: Architectural Features and Style Analysis.
2. Information on when the structure was built as well as evolution of changes, the History of Ownership, Supporting Documentation, and optional archaeological investigation.
Seeking the Past Historic Education Consultant
1. Development of Educational Units based upon Local History in conjunction with local Historical Societies and Organizations and School Systems.
2. Assist Local Historical Societies and Organizations in Research Projects.
February 2018 – June 2019
Creation of an Elementary and Secondary Curriculum about the Siege and Battles at Saybrook Fort during the Pequot War for the Old Saybrook Historical Society as well as a recently finished a book to be published in the fall for the Old Saybrook Historical Society and the National Park Service on the Siege and Battles at Saybrook Fort during the Pequot War. This work was done via a grant from the U.S Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program.
I am also an author of local histories including Saving the Farm; A Journey through Time, Place and Redemption and Seeing the Past; Stories on the Trail of a Yankee Millwright

Research, consulting, and writing for the Follow the Falls Project for the Essex Historical Society and the Essex Land Trust. This is an ambitious five year project documenting the evolution of the communities and their history along the Falls River in Essex, Ct. To date this has resulted in both a printed document available to the public as well as an E-magazine.

Among them were: AP United States History, AP Human Geography, UConn Western Civilization, Comparative Religions, Modern European History, Modern Middle Eastern History, and The 1960’s.
Particularly appropriate to the RFP on the Saybrook Fort and the Pequot War are the following courses I developed and taught: American History through Architecture, Local History through Archaeology, and 19th Century American Life at the Dudley Farm Museum.
The Dudley Farm Museum Guilford, Ct. — Co-TeacherJanuary 1993 - June 2004 As co-teacher along with Thomas Leddy, Technology Teacher at Guilford High School, I developed a curriculum that was both research based and hands-on at the Dudley Farm Museum for students to learn about life in the 19th century while also helping to restore the farm, its buildings, and landscape to reflect a late 19th century farm.
Students involved were Guilford High School students from a wide background and through a grant from the State Education Department, students from Kindergarten to High School from throughout Connecticut.

As a founding member of the Board of Directors for the Dudley Farm Museum, I was intimately involved in the creation and day to day operation of the Museum. This is the topic of my book Saving the Farm; A Journey through Time, Place, and Redemption.
Development of Archaeological Programs
Guilford and North Branford, Ct. -Director and Facilitator
August 1990 - August 2000
As a offshoot of teaching Local History through Archaeology at Guilford High School I organized and supervised an ongoing series of digs in Guilford through the sponsorship of The Guilford Keeping Society, The Dorothy Whitfield Society on their historic house museum properties as well as at the Dudley Farm Museum.
I also developed and supervised a series of archaeological digs in North Branford under the partnership of North Branford Public Schools as well as the Totoket Historical Society. One three year dig at a mill site in Northford became the genesis for my second book, Seeing the Past; Stories on the Trail of a Yankee Millwright which I am currently conducting readings from throughout Connecticut at bookstores, libraries, and historical societies.
